N.J. State Police search Hamilton area for driver who fled traffic stop on I-195

HAMILTON – New Jersey State Police aviation and K-9 units are searching along Interstate 195 for a person who fled during a motor vehicle stop this morning.

Troopers stopped the car around 10:30 a.m. on the highway, but the driver jumped out and ran for the woods, said Sgt. Steve Jones, a state police spokesman.

The subject of the search did not attempt to harm the trooper and was not a known fugitive, Jones said. Units from the State Police and Hamilton police were combing the area between the highway and Kuser Road near Crockett Middle School this morning, witnesses reported.
